I continue to be amazed that some marketers are of the opinion that their audiences (seniors) are not active Internet users. I'd encourage those who are in this camp to take another look.

We have numerous clients, including The SCOOTER Store who market directly to seniors and their adult children. Without sharing any secrets, I can attest that the Web is a very important channel for those brands who "get it".

eMarketer recently reported results of a Pew Research publication that shows seniors ARE active consumers of online media. According to Geoff Ramsey, ceo of eMarketer, "while they may be less likely to be online than those from younger generations, those who are online are very heavy users."

Fore more info and a link to the Pew report, check out my blog Seniors on the Web.

Looking forward to your thoughts and comments!

Thanks!

Steve,

I agree with you that overlooking seniors on the web is a mistake. I currently work in an orthopedic surgery practice. The biggest group that completes online registration and comes in with their Internet research are seniors. There are many procedures that Medicare does not cover in the US. Medical Tourism companies would be overlooking that market if they did not consider this group in their marketing plans.
