Why not bury two dead horses in the same grave ???
I completely agree that any US Government run system (based on my personal experiences) is destined to fail, however being a proponent of the free enterprise system - I believe that any competition serves to make the participants better. There are some facilities in Mexico that are clearly impressive, and the opportunity to cash in from their rich neighbors to the north, could improve things tremendously.
When something is completely broken, what can it harm to throw anything at it that has opportunity ?
Maybe this isn't all bad, and what could it hurt. The US health system is already dead, if someone thinks they can put a saddle on its back and breath it better – have at it.

Medicare is a horrible system in the States and to add it to Mexicos already terrible Health care System only makes it that much worse!! Why Would anyone in their right mind think that it is ok to do this to an already
in trouble Developing Country "third world country" The IMSS Medical System that Mexico uses is the utterly most terrifying thing that I have ever witnessed. Medicare does not stand far behind it. I worked for many years at a very large very well known Medical Billing Company. Medicare and Medicaid are by far the worse payers of any Insurance company! And their approval rate for many needed Services is just as bad! So Let me get this straight the waiting periods at the Mexican IMSS for any procedure is already weeks and some even months behind for their own people and now your telling me that Mexico may opt to take on American Medicare as well???? Sure let The sates pawn off on Mexico an already proven to fail system to add to the Problems the Country has! Please Mexico does not even rely on a good phone system or a good mail service and only the Upscale Hospitals use a computerized Modern System. Tell me how in the World this will ever work when even the High and Mighty States can't control the Medicare System....In all Honesty Mexico has the Best Private Hospitals That I have ever seen and not to mention the most qualified Surgeons. but the Government owned Hospitals....well that is another Story!
