THE COMPANY: Young @ Heart, a newly formed company in the healthcare industry. The purpose of Y@H is to establish a multilevel, comprehensive, integrated, continuum of care spanning different levels of intensity, which is not existing in Puerto Rico.
PRODUCTS:
1. Sub-Acute Care:A form of post acute care, treatment rendered immediately after acute hospitalization. It is generally thought as a transitional phase of care before the patient moves to the home or to a skilled nursing facility. Acute care is provided by hospitals who offer services from a cure point of view, Y@H focus on the care of the patient, which is even a greater market since they are more people in need of sub-acute healthcare than for acute or chronic assistance. This care includes: respiratory problems requiring ventilation, strokes, cancer, wounds, conditions requiring intravenous, etc.
2. Medical Resort: The Gurabo project is a sustainable medical resort, which includes a clinic, a nursing school, and CARF or rehabilitation center. The clinic will only focus on orthopedics and cardiology surgeries, since there are the highest billing surgeries and more available specialized doctors available in the island.
COMPETITION: There are no sub-acute facilities or medical resorts in the island. Hospitals provide the services rendered at a sub-acute facility, however the hospital fee is 40% higher.
TARGET MARKET:
Sub-acute- According to market studies there is a need for at least 3,000 beds in the Metro Area (3 miles radius) we propose 183 beds, .07% of the available market.
Medical Tourism: The projection of Deloitte and Touche is that for 2017 the US Market only will generate 2-3M patients travelling for medical reasons. We propose capture of that market .007% (22,100 tourist a year will give a 100%occupancy).
