Bill, my personal opinion is that there are too many vague generic terms. "wellness" and "spa" on its own or in combination refers to the broad concept of relaxation and pampering (with or without availability of professional health advice) within a venue (day or destination) intended to provide short term benefits enabling clients to feel better about themselves.

There are also spa tourism ( medical / hotel / resort), holistic tourism (yoga / retreat), medical tourism (elective procedures), Spiritual tourism (pilgramage / meditation), occupational wellness tourism (executive health, life -coaching / stress management).

Blueprint Health advocates scientifically credible personalised health interventions that focuses on the whole person while engaging him/her in pro-active participation in lifestyle management. As this involves not only knowledge / action around physical health, such a definition has to be broadened to encompass all of the above - that is spiritual, mental, social and physical components. Fragmentation will unintentially render most efforts in this regard devoid of any sustainable results.
