I think healthcare globalization goes beyond a person travelling from his hometown to a destination B for treatment. I think in this day and age where communication happens almost at the speed of thought it is also about remote diagnosis, advice, planning and even treatment. We have radiologists in India moonlighting and trying to decipher radiographs made on patients in the US, we have online nurse stations which give advice to patients in the developed world sitting in another country. Yes.. I think the visitor fees have been put into the works for the patients benefit rather than the hospitals. There are better ways of proving allegiance and care than disturbing a patient when he needs to rest and recuperate.
