It is to do with forging a healthy doctor-patient relationship, dealing with what is likely to be a high expectation, cost-conscious and less forgiving patient should things go wrong. Respect and attention to patient needs, managing expectations, adequate consent taking, good documentation are essential. So is your understanding of litigation risks in terms of jurisdiction, choice of law issues and enforcement issues. Having adequate professional support and indemnity from international and established organisations would be a priority.
