Slovakia is recently gaining ground in European interest in connection with its huge reserve of mineral and thermal springs. There are more than 1300 springs of mineral water in Slovakia the majority of witch are suitable for direct consumption. Natural healing spas have grown up near some of them. Today we have natural healing healing spas of national and intenational importance in Slovakia. Almost all diseases of the list of deasease indication are healded here.
Slovakia has a long traditon of spas. Many of Slovak spas were already known in the 16 century proved by the various references in the work of George Wernher published in the 1549.

Slovak spascan be devided into:
- balneological: in witch a positive influence on the human organism is reached by the effect of mineral or thermal water in form of baths, drinking treatment, douche, inhalation and mud wrappings.

-climatic: in witch a positive influence on the human organism is reached by the physical-chemical characteristics of local climatic conditions of the spa.

Origin of the word spa
The word “spa” may be came from the Walloon word “espa” meaning fountain. This, in turn, came from the name of the Belgian town Spa, where in the 14th century a curative, thermal spring was discovered. Spa may also originate from the Latin word “spagere” or may be an acronym of the Latin phrase “sanitas per aquas.
The belief in the curative powers of mineral waters goes back to prehistoric times.
The practice of traveling to hot or cold springs in hopes of effecting a cure of some ailment dates back to pre-historic times. Archaeological investigations near hot springs in France and Czech Republic revealed bronze age weapons and offerings. In Great Britain, ancient legend credited early Celtic kings with the discovery of the hot springs at Bath,
Many people around the world believed that bathing in a particular spring, well, or river resulted in physical and spiritual purification. Forms of ritual purification existed among the Native Americans, Persians, Babylonians, Egyptians, Greeks, and Romans.

Basically there are four types of spas:
-1-The spa that caters to the wellness of a person. This is for people who have an eventful medical history and treatments are vested after discussions with the client's licensed health care specialists. Most of the people visiting these spas for treatments are persons recovering from operations or other treatments are administered to the patients according to the case.
-2-The spa for people that take fitness into consideration specially designed for people that desire to relax.
-3-The holistic spa. For people to learn more spirituality.
-4-The day spa. . People who visit these spas are usually the ones who are more beauty-conscious. Making a visit to these spas gives the client an opportunity to beautify and to relax too. There are different types of treatments that are provided in the day spa that help to relax you and beautify you at the same time like mud packs, sauna baths, massages and yoga.

There are two types of spas in Jordan:
The first type that caters wellness to the person i.e. (curing @the Dead Sea skin diseases)

Hi,
thank you for your message.
SPA industry is very importantpart of medical tourism.
Here in Slovakia is more than 1600 thermal springs, and we have 25 Spas with a long tradition.
I think Spa treatment is a special, and very effective.
Many people already discover Spas as a prevention, for example top manager prefers reconditioning or regenerating stays. As the first our medical tourism agency have an exclusive contract with the first center of cardiovascular rehabilitation spa in Slovakia.Treatment in this cardiocentre is recommended especially for patients with heart failure and after heart surgery.
If you are looking for some extra information, please contact me.
thank you
