The main Mantra Behind medical Tourism still remains the same " Fist world healthcare at third world price" which has a hidden specification of Quality healthcare. Id we analyse it , the first world healthcare relates to healthcare with utmost care keeping patient at the center , using latest technologies and providing evidence based care with assurance of quality and scope of continuous evolution. With all these attributes the patient care has to be costly and time taking. Now the question comes with limited resources how the developing countries can meet with the challenge and meet the need.
- Yes developing countries are lacking some resources but ,not to forget the most important thing human resource is the key point here. The best brains and the trained technicians cost much less here to provide same service than if they are overseas.
- Technology procurement and installation is at much lower cost here
- Desi Quality systems and accreditation procedures are in no way behind the International systems
-The doctor entrepreneurs are geared up to meet the need of the industry and have started preparing the hospitals for the next leap
- increasing participation of professionals in different international get together.
Now coming back to quality healthcare how it is going to supplement to Medical Tourism growth. An accreditation is a kind of assurance that the hospital is following a defined set of rules and procedures to maintain some standard and there are policies to be followed for maintain and develop continuously in patient centric care. Thus when inquiry about a hospital comes and the interacting staff tells its an accredited hospital it gives assurance to the patient and develops trust. secondly when a hospital is following some sort of rules as per any accreditation system the patient care is bound to improve and become seamless.Hence when the patients go back they become the indirect brand ambassadors and are vocal about the good services they have got.
thus directly and indirectly the quality accreditation in healthcare gives boost to the growth of medical tourism.
This is a nice synopsis of the challenges nonwestern based countries face in terms of the quality measurement conundrum. Could you please explain more about the Desi standards for accreditation and quality?
