Thanks for the invitation to join this group.

Part of my legal work in Eastern Europe is devoted to the improvement and 'Europeanisation' of the local Court and Judicial systems in the region.
I can see a clear need for a voluntary code of ethics and practice amongst all the international participants in the industry. This will create more confidence amongst the patients and give greater credibility to those working within the industry. At the moment the industry comes in for some unfounded criticism which can be difficult to refute because of public misconceptions and a general lack of education about what we are doing. Its not just a question of transparency but of general education of the public about what is available and how they can exercise their own free choice without being misled or suffering a reduction of care standards below that which they expect. The more people who understand how the industry works and the more the industry promotes high care standards, at its earliest opportunity, the more the patients will relax about becoming medical tourists.
