Accreditation just for sake of marketing OR accreditation purely for quality purpose. If so, why not local accreditationans why US companies/ insurers ask for JCI as a criterion for patient referral ?

Most of us, in healthcare business know very well that hospitals from around the world, may it be India, Malaysia, Jordan, Singapore or you name any other big Medical Tourism destination, get JCI accreditation. Even though they already are accredited by some national or international accreditation body, but suddenly need has arisen to get JCI? Question is why? Is it that JCI helps these hospitals to really achieve some big standard for which they charge big money or they merely sell an accreditation to make these hospitals woo more big American Companies, Insurance providers in the name of Quality and Standard. Does this really help patient safety or it increases cost for American patients.
Most important issue is to keep healthcare clean and void of these artificial apporaches. World is converging and so is healthcare becoming a global issue. I feel we all shall decide YES or NO for JCI. Just to ensure more transparency and oneness.
