I wholeheartedly agree with your premise that organizational membership does not necessarily make an institution better, but it gives a reference point. I sincerely believe that a fine organization like the MTA would harbor a poor institution for a protracted time, as it would pull down their credibility.

Michael,
Wrong interpretation. I merely stated that there are other hospitals, who are not represented by the MTA in Israel, who are better than those who are members. Simple.
Membership in any association does not make one better, it only makes you a member. And as we know, in this case, membership doesn't have its privileges.
I hope this explains it better.
I am always open to discuss things off line if you wish. Best of luck in your search and best wishes to your clients.

Ilan,
I agree with you about the standards of care in Israel, and that they might be higher then JCI. However, that is not how I understood what you wrote. To me it appeared that you took a shot at the institutions that the MTA includes as members.
To be honest, I found it distasteful that someone would take a shot at any institution or other business, unless of course there is a major substandard or less then ethical business practice. I believe there is enough business out there for all of us to benefit.
FYI I have also done "due diligence" on the hospitals and doctors in Israel with relatives and top medical professionals. I also will be carefully examining the accommodations. as with any potential MT site. Although I do appreciate the advice.

Michael,
Since I can't ask about the specific needs of your patients, I can only comment in general terms.
In my opinion, and as an Israeli who's family used the services of some its best hospitals, I can only say that in some cases the JCI accreditation could be meaningless. The experiences they have all had are quite amazing in their range. Hadassah,Saare Tzedek, Rambam, Souraski are all amazing medical centers. Check carefully about accommodations nearby, if that is a consideration, not all of them have the ability to accommodate family members in "American style"...

please do, but trust me, I had no intention iof raising any question about Hadassah. It is a fine institution. And my mother was a very active member of Hadassah in the Boston area!

That said, thank you for bringing my attention to Sourasky, I shall check them out.

Rambam is excellent and I don't know that much about Sourasky. I didn't question you about better hospitals since your post only refered to JCI accreditation.
However, I get a bit touchy when people question Hadassah because my family is very involved in the organization that supports it and has been for generations. Even people who know nothing about Israeli medical care know of Hadassah's reputation.

I didn't say better but very good. Try Rambam in Haifa or Tel Aviv Sourasky Medical Centrer in Tel Aviv.

Since many of the hospitals represented at the MTA are amongst the best in the world, ie Hadassah, Asuta and Share Tzedek, I would be interested in learning about others that would be considered better.
I will only deal with hospitals that have JCI accreditation.
