I think accreditation of hospitals should be mandatory for hospitals (Private / public) to invite patients from abroad so we are able to offer them minimum set of healthcare standards!

I heard an interesting suggestion today...that in contracting with providers a clause should be added which monetarily indemnifies the patient should there be complications from the providers service.

This would facilitate provider service in the country of origin/return.

Indian Government should also closely monitor transplant market and also regulate price. NABH accreditation should be pushed actively.

Litigation risks and need for adequate indemnity can be major challenges in medical tourism. Risk management is another area of need to not only prevent things from going wrong but also how to handle mishaps so that they do not escalate.

1. I have been informed that Emergency Medicine in India is evolving steadily and possibly in need of an official credentialing program. If anyone has information on this subject please advise (drkalin@ibms.us). The International Board of Medicine and Surgery is associated with a multi-specialty organization facilitating U.S. board certification.

2. I wish to announce Dr.D.Mahendran of India will be working with the International Board of Medicine and Surgery in recruitng and reviewing distinguished Physicians, Surgeons, Dentists, Centers of Healthcare Excellence, and other healthcare professionals for membership in the International Board of Medicine and Surgery.

3. The International Board of Medicine and Surgery invites distinguished Physicians, Surgeons, Dentists, Centers of Healthcare Excellence, and other healthcare professionals to have a complimentary (free) listing of Name, Country, Specialty and Email Address (www.ibms.us). Registration/Membership requires review of national licensure and specialty certification.

I agree. Medical travel has a huge potential and I think accreditation of hospitals should be mandatory for hospitals to invite patients from abroad so we are able to offer them minimum set of healthcare standards!
