Dear Jack,

I must congratulate you for keeping medical tourism facilitators interest on high.  In these few years MT has witnessed a robust growth and no one can take this credit away from MT facilitators. It is not only the medical treatment but facilitator understands the environmental, cultural, political, security and community factors of the destination, which is equally important. A medical tourism support system goes far beyond the obvious arrangements like travel, accommodation, medical services, pre & post-operative care and tourism activities.  Looking at the complexity of decision-making process of selecting country, hospital, travel agents, concierge service providers, where all these agencies could act as intermediaries, but none of them can offer comprehensive medical tourism support services as a one-stop facilitator. Rightly you said there has to be a distribution channel, if not there… not too late either. Lets us have the win win situation.

With all these facilities Prime Consultancy would be happy to work with you. My id Deepak@mediprimeindia.com

I'm delighted to join the group. Is anyone going to the Global Health Care Summit in Miami in November?

We are moving into the inbound MT Sector, and would like to make contact with some facilitators around the world that could work in partnership with us.
Obviously, Americans go out of the country to save money, and part of the reason for that is that (arguably) we have the finest overall healthcare facilities in the world – even if only by perception. Besides that, we lead the world in some very niche specific areas of medicine, such as lasik eye surgery. I am already working to set up an inbound MT program for groups from Germany to visit the US and get their eyes fixed... then spend 10 days with their new eyes seeing America !
This is the sort of "niche marketing" that we want to get into. If you have any ideas or ways that we could work together to bring patients or groups to the USA, lets talk... either here, or in Los Angeles.

Jack

Your experience speaks for itself. Distance for US patients is certainly an "ISSUE".

In my travel between these 2 destinations I have always added Europe or part of Asia for some sight-seeing. Yes for the West Coast traveler, Pacific may be a better route. One can even make it an around-the-world ticket (at the discretion/ preference of the patient and co-travelers), if they always wanted to see places in between and use it an opportunity, if their health so permits.
Turn a challenge into an opportunity, that’s how Medical Tourism gets innovated and everyone gets value for their time and money.

India is an incredible destination, both for tourism and medical options, availability, and certainty pricing. The "only" issue that has kept us, as a USA based facilitator, from moving USA patients to that destination is distance. It may not be a "problem", but it IS an issue... and it can't be ignored. We can't make the distance shorter, so we have to make the trip safer or better. Facilitators and providers in India should have no problem marketing with European travelers, or even Asian travelers, but to ignore the distance factor from the USA, is to pretend the 800 lb. gorilla is not really in the room.
If India really wants to market to the USA, address that as an issue that has to be resolved. We know most travelers have to lay-over or change flights, somewhere in Europe.. most in Amsterdam, some in the UK... Use that lay-over as a "break". Add in a pleasurable rest time. A day of sightseeing... book through Heatrhrow and add in a night at the Theater. ANYTHING to use that distance as an advantage instead of a perceived problem.

As a Leisure Tour Operator for 15 years, we were moving 150+ PAX to India per year, and doing it by taking advantage of what otherwise would be a problem. Use the layover to your advantage, and sell the Golden Triangle... The Taj is nearly as well visited as the Pyramids. Sell the sizzle, you've already got some great steak !
