Why must people think that it is ok to try to talk down the price of a procedure, that is already being made affordable to them??? When did Medical turn into a flea market??

Why do people think that it is ok to try to talk a Surgeon down from an already great 40-70% discount on a procedure....Mainly plastic Surgery procedures....I understand necessary procedures. You never see this in the U.S.A maybe they ask for a 15% discount on an already overly priced procedure, but here in Mexico PEOPLE USE THE SURGEONS AS IF THEY WERE SELLING PROCEDURES AT A FLEA MARKET!!!!!

Dear Nora,
Your point of view is quite right but i would say with in your continent. Patients from other continents, who are interested to take treatment in South America/North America have to spend some extra money. At your side most of the countries have border free facility and they dont need to have visa to travel, they just buy ticket & make an appointment with doctor but when you are planing from subcontinent then you have to do so many things like (visa procedure documents charges, air tickets comparatively expensive, some more small expense. This is just to giving you an idea, we can talk more about this topic (the topic can be exaggerated).

I am in favour of patients and surly you too, always we should give them relief when ever we can.

Hi Nora.

The concept of medical Tourism based on lower cost and with quality care and often the second part the customers forget when they get lured by the bait of saving money. Lets understand the customer behavior and psychology, I would like to tell you a small story. Once a kid wanted to have an experience of buying an umbrella. he wanted to go to a market where he could bargain and before he left house he asked his father for some tips. Father was busy with some work and he told him carelessly always start bargaining with 50 % of the price said by the shop keeper. So the kid reaches the shop asks for the shop keeper, how much is one umbrella? Shop keeper : 100 bucks. Kid thinks.: oh he is making 50 bucks. So he bargains for 50. Shop keeper tells ok. hen kid thinks he must be telling 4 times initially oh, I should tell 25. With that also shopkeeper think its ok, let the kid take it. Then kid tells no 12.50 bucks. The shop keeper is amazed and tells why don't u take it free? Kid tells then you have to give me two.

In an unregulated market where patients are not aware about the actual spending or they dont avail the service frequently there will be always skepticism about the market and they will try to come down with the price to save their money. For this reason there needs to be coordinated effort, the big bosses of the industry must understand and coordinate properly for a long term goal, for coherence between world wide providers and facilitators and the attitude to grow together ,rather than just to make an effort to make a successful business. I would say this is RENAISSANCE period of medical tourism and our intelligent efforts for the long term will not only lay firm foundation but also create healthy business sphere for now and tomorrow.
Yes - it would be great if there could be uniform consistent pricing for every procedure and every person in each hospital/clinic. Unfortunately it is not the case.

Doctor probably will ask : How much insurance coverage you have? And your bill for a complex surgery will be little over that amount.

I think with time when facilitators evolve and become the marketing force to get patients to hospitals, they will certainly help as they will be in position to recommend to their patients a great doc/hospital with affordable price and quality that fits the patient's needs.

Dear Nora,
Sorry , i am not against your point of view, at current circumstances your offers are quite well . i just said, whenever we can give concession(as already given by you) to the patients we should step up immediately and give them relief.

Right now your prices are amazing and in favour of patients.

I totally agree with you,
Many people do not know, that a medical treatment is a procedure about or with their health. So they want to discuss the prices. I know it from the aesthetic surgery. In this class the people mostly look where they can get a face lift for the lowest price. But they have no feeling for the risk of the procedures.
We have to stand without any discussion for the prices we need . Its a factor in safety and high quality to make no fleamarket prices. When somebody wants maybe a laser treatment for face at my center for 200 € , I say no ,because we give a professional safety standard with before and after treatment care. Its the law of business, that you cannot have high quality for low price. Here we have to spend time for clearing up the patients.
Best answer yet! Thank you and Kind Regards
I also think the same that best quality takes money and can't be compromised! T & C applies.
