Dear Mr Ashok Kumar Panda,
Greetings from Wellness Visit .
Very good question, but I think consent is not meant that patient is coming for the choice of hospital and it is necessary to have a consent for it, or can not be obtained by Medical Tourism facilitators acting on behalf of a doctor. Patients are quite good at safe guarding their interest and certainly they check the good and bad about choice of facilities and payment.
If doctors talk to patients before they fly, I think if patients have listened and they follow that and fly to cross border, it is an implied consent and once they reach and doctor decide to perform some procedure etc, will certainly take a more solid consent as expressed or written form (Informed/ written).
I think, terms and conditions and use of site is more relevant from Medical Tourism facilitator's perspective for them to engage patients and that is the best document for both to understand each other's responsibilities.
Best regards
Mubbashir
In the US, consent is imperative. With litigious society like the US, at the very least you should have a waiver as a medical facilitator. This is no-brainer.
Consent is not only legal requirement but also compliments and fulfills certain other requirements. Hence to understand the importance of Consent is very important and various types of consents needs to be discussed in relation to medical tourism and the origin countries statutory requirements.
Anyone rendering treatment to a patient requires a consent in this country (USA) and full disclosure. This will be a demise of any medical facilitator failing to follow protocol. Read AMA recommendation!
US is not the only country , There are several countries where medico legal compliance is required, If you need I can send you few documents. Thanks for recommendation by the way.
No need, I'm only concern with US patients.
No issues ,This is an international forum, I feel we need people who can show their concern for the whole community , not just for a region. And India is a potential destination for any country and welcomes all for medical tourism.
I send US patients abroad including India.. Wockhardt Hospital and Indraprastha Apollo Hospital.

Keep up the good job.
I do think consent is really necessary... just to be in the safer side!!!!
how about hospitals across, do they have any kind of form to sign, before the treatment ?
There are several forms to be signed, Hospitals have that minimum provisions. there are several areas, the intention of posting this question was to discuss the various implications, lets not get back to square one.
