Brits are looking for cosmetic, dental and IVF treatments.

However, the question is......do they look for a facility or for a particular doctor?

As an Australian I can't imagine leaving the good health care available in that beautiful country. Especially when it is so reasonably priced if you want to be treated privately.

By far and away I believe that most medical tourists today are going for elective medical procedures: Ukrainians traveling to Cuba for Lasik, Germans traveling to Hungary for liposuction and so forth; and the largest percentage of these procedures are cosmetic surgery. Given the soaring costs of medical care, the unprecedented wealth destruction we have experienced over the past 2 years and the murky outlook for meaningful healthcare reform here in the USA however, look for an acceleration in American medical tourism in the years ahead for all manner of procedures, and to destinations as far away as India. As far as types of facilities are concerned, I believe that many Americans look for not only English speaking physicians, but those closer to "home" (Panama, Mexico, Costa Rica and now Canada) and those affiliated with hospitals accredited by the JCI and or affiliated with renowned hospitals such as Johns Hopkins.
