Dear Industry professionals:

I have a few questions for you, and would be much obliged if you could kindly answer:

1) What is an average cost of accreditation for a hospital?

2) What does cost estimate depend on?

3) Do prices differ from country to country?

4) How long (on average) does the whole accreditation process last?

THANK YOU

Dear Zarema Plaksiji

Accreditation cost for a hospital can be different for different hospitals, basing on several factors. It may include preparatory phase, internal audit phase. and final audit , corrective action , re-application need.major or minor non conformance/ commissioning phase/ established hospital and completion of several years of operational management / existing practices. If you can give me inputs I could help you better.

Depending on country specific accreditation could be different , and hence a local accreditation might cost you lower. A local accreditation system recognized by ISQua stands at par any internationally acclaimed accreditation system. Even some local ssytem though not part of ISqua also are excellent.

Again your fourth question is very much dependent on analysis of inputs

Drop me a line with more queries if you have.

Dear Ashok

Thank you for your reply.
I am a journalist and I am writing a piece on accreditation. And there are some rather simple facts that I don't know, but need for the research urgently.
My questions actually reflect something an ordinary person, not an industry insider, is likely to ask.
I don't have a specific hospital in mind. I was just wondering, say, the well-established and accredited centres that operate, for example, in Asia or in Europe, how long did it take for them. Like, well, Bumrungrad..

Anyway, thank you for the information. if you could help, that would be simply great!

Hi Zarema
A standard accreditation preparation process with an In house team for clinical , non clinical and supportive area expertise, one lead consultant for supervising and one research assistant , with regular inputs and cooperation from all hospital staff and management determination should comfortably take 8 months to 1 year .
Brilliant, Ashok, Thank you, indeed.
The most important accreditation is JCI or JCAHO for the hospitals. This is the most prestigious and sought after accreditation. It can cost upward to $60,000. I will only send my patients to JCI accredited institution abroad and JCAHO in USA.
