Does patient has access to information to take an informed decision on his Medical Care Destination for his Medical Care?

Would like to have opinion from all members what they think about this.

Patients normally contact an facilitator for his medical care need. The facilitator then provides patient with quotes from the service providers (hospital) with whom he has relationship.

Thus, probably it would be correct to say that Patient relies on facilitator or service provider for quality, pricing or any other stuff to decide on the Medical Care Destination.

Service Provider rating and reviews by other patient is something that is missing in this industry which could help patient take an independent decision.

I believe patients normally rely on judgment of their facilitator. It makes sense to them as facilitator takes away all worries of a patient. If facilitator is a serious player in this industry he would just not endorse any service provider without validating its ability. That way it makes sense to engage an Facilitator. However, how do you believe in any Facilitator?

The rating & reviews by patients is something that is missing in this industry. Such a thing would definitely going to help patients.
Absolutely. Authenticated ratings and reviews would help. What this means that the review has to be from a patient who has indeed gone through facilitator, doctor, hospital and can produce proof of payment before his rating can be published.

On the other token, a facilitator - hospital - doctor can also help patients at no cost to help them make right decision. Not all doctors, hospitals, facilitators have personnel to give free time to community answering health queries but those who will participate will obviously have preference from the entire network of this industry.

These two ratings have to be kept separate and a good ratings algorithm have to be devised.

http://www.kosansh.com is an attempt to go in that direction but we are long way a) from adding these features and b) confirming whether this works or not in the rigth way.
