Do you realize reinsurance companies are offering medical tourism in employer stop-loss contracts?

That's big news, plus the AMA, in the announcement I post below, just threw gasoline on the fire of working boomers and seniors concerns about Medicare coverage and access which will prompt even greater interest in health travel.

I'd appreciate your comments on the following two articles:

  1. AMA Accuses Congress of Medicare Mismanagement - The full AMA report on the AMA White Coat Rally is republished here.
  2. How to Weather the Medicare Insurance Crisis "heads up" suggestions to Boomer and Seniors on how to weather the Medicare meltdown including input from the reinsurance company experts starting to offer medical tourism in their stop-loss contracts

Ilene,
You seemingly have the best handle on the Medical Tourism Industry in areas that go outside of building the industry on the inside. What you focus on is the pulse of the industry as it applies to "we the people..." who are trying to develop our companies in such a way as to be able to best serve the needs of the B2B as well as self-paid clients.
I'm a firm believer in "build it... they will come", but "they" (9 out of 10 prospective clients) do not even know we exist, and there never has been a collective effort (outside of the inside of the industry) to educate and inform.
Your information is always valuable and informative to those of us who can not afford to just wait around (or depend on others) to make our business models successful.
Thank you for sharing with all of us. I have been trying to do much of the same in developing new "product distribution channels", and have been completely (and sadly) underwhelmed by the response !
Regards,
Jack Schafer
